Time and Dates
Time
When writing about a time of day, use a.m. or p.m. instead of This AM or A.M. For example:
The meeting is at 9 a.m
Use numerals except for noon and midnight, but do not write 12 noon or 12 midnight.
Use a colon to separate hours from minutes, but do not use :00 to express even hours. it is 4 p.m. not 4:00 p.m.
To express a time range in running text, use from and to, like this
The luncheon presentation will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A hyphen is acceptable when the time range stands alone, outside of a complete sentence. For example:
Noon - 3 p.m.
Dates
Except for news releases, dates are used with the month written out and the full year. For news releases, abbreviate the month with a period: Nov.1
For references to only the month and year (no day), do not use a comma. Use a comma after year when the month, date and year are included.
President Ikenberry visited India in December 2018. President Killeen spoke on September 22, 2015, in the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.
