Rockford Department Names

Eight academic departments are part of the College of Medicine Rockford. Department names are capitalized in text (a departure from previous style), e.g., The Department of Psychiatry is having a meeting. The following are the academic departments:

• Department of Biomedical Sciences (note sciences is always plural)

• Department of Family and Community Medicine (note an ampersand is not used, so never Family & Community Medicine)

• Department of Health Sciences Education (again, sciences is plural)

• Department of Medicine and Medical Specialties (now includes the former Dept. of Pathology)

• Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology

• Department of Pediatrics

• Department of Psychiatry

• Department of Surgery and Surgical Specialties
