Eight academic departments are part of the College of Medicine Rockford. Department names are capitalized in text (a departure from previous style), e.g., The Department of Psychiatry is having a meeting. The following are the academic departments:
Department of Biomedical Sciences (note sciences is always plural)
Department of Family and Community Medicine (note an ampersand is not used, so never Family & Community Medicine)
Department of Health Sciences Education (again, sciences is plural)
Department of Medicine and Medical Specialties (now includes the former Dept. of Pathology)
